I just can not wrap my head around the fact that we have a huge opportunity to grow business and lower the tax base here in Irondequoit, with one of the most beautiful malls in the area. Why can we not as a town coordinate with a proactive buyer and produce great short term tax incentives and free marketing in return for generating occupancy.
I would propose to a new owner first and foremost the provision of safety, and security. With a goal to be the Mall with the least amount of reportable incidents of crime in upstate New York. This would be done through cutting edge security technology, and a strong "soft" security presence similar to that of Midtown in it's prime. I would exploit this goal to all the residents of Rochester to create interest in the new and improved consumer destination.
Next I would offer a short term tax break to the owner which is negotiable every quarter for the first year. In lieu of the tax break the owner must offer all tenants who sign on for a 5 year lease agreement, 1 quarter of earnings rent free for the first 2 years. Once occupancy reaches 75% for 1 year, all new lease agreements are at the discretion of the owner.
I have other ideas and the benefits of job growth would be a plus. these are just off the top of my head. With the resources of entrepreneurial minded individuals here in this area, I can't believe this giant is still sleeping.

Linda,
Are you referring to a specific individual or are you just making a general statement?

You better watch out for who you support. Morals and values are very important for who you support and vote for. You would not want someone in office that can't be morally straight in their personal life representing you in your district or town.

Anne, can the Irondequoit and city noise ordinances be enforced to end the Pelican Nest distorted sound on weekends from reaching hundrens of
Irondequoit homes? The business is clearly violating both ordinances and disturbing multiple neighborhoods in the NW part of Irondequoit. My home is 2 miles from that edge of town and the distorted sound is heard even inside my home.
whatever you can do is deeply appreciated.

The Pelican Nest business on the west side of the Genessee River (city address), has been entertaining patrons with loud music that is distorted noist when it reaches
Irondequoit homes. My home is 2 miles from this business and the sound is annoying. There must be hundreds of homes that endure this violation of bot city and Irondequoit noise ordinances. Even with windows closed the noise penetrated my home and enjoying an evening outside is not possible due to this source.
I am asking for many residents as well as myself for your action to solve the problem. Their playing outdoor loud speakers violates the rights of people who endure the injustice.
Is there a solution: loud music must be indoors, perhaps using more speakers with lower volume. I am asking for enforcement of the noise ordinances across the city/Irondequoit and perhaps raising this to the Republican Committee is the way it is most promply addressed. Thanks in advance for your action.

Gary, is this like the "un-American" way we are going to give the supervisor another 2 year term? Isnt it rather un-American to not have a real election/vote? Do you think residents are too stupid to notice there will be no choice?

Feeling as you see seem to regarding the apprenticeship program and how you are equating that with "money laundering" I am surprised that you are supporting the endorsement of the 2 current democrat board members who were strongly in favor of this program! Do THEY know you feel they are money launderers? How can the Republicans support them if they truly feel this way? And you as the chair representing that position at the county level?

Do you really believe that only Democrats belong to unions? So all the teachers, town employees, county employees, etc are Democrats??? How about the PAC that donated funds to Ms Essley and Ms DAurizio? PAC's go both ways mister.

Do you really not remember the wind mill vote that took place. They voted "no" before there was even a proposal before them, you dont call that a rush to judgment? Maybe only when their party chair tells them to. (wind tower votes took place in republican towns and were voted no before anyone saw a proposal, perhaps denying residents of the community REAL tax breaks.)

You are right about this town board usually not rushing to judgment though, how long do items that come before this board get tabled? I wonder when they will make a decision on the R7 for Titus Ave? The master plan? Pulling the plug on Congel? No, this board cannot (usually) be blamed for rushing to judgment. In fact I believe the supervisor was quoted as saying she "hasnt even been able to decide on wallpaper for 10 years!"
